Wealth & Estate Guidance
Comprehensive financial advice is not complete without discussing wealth and estate planning. Our team has a high level of experience working with clients on a multitude of estate issues relating to significant life events or changes in current law. We typically review and evaluate our clients’ current plans annually as part of our “good financial health check-up.”
Estate Planning
We engage the majority of our clients in a discussion on estate planning – from the basics of creating a will or trust and power of attorneys (POAs), to gifting and planning for wealth transfer to the next generation. Our goal is to provide clients with creative solutions that are suited to their individual needs and tax situation. There are different types of trusts that can be utilized for planning depending on client specific needs and goals. We coordinate with our clients’ estate and tax professionals to ensure plans are implemented. We also work with clients through significant life events, like birth, death and divorce and are here to provide guidance on their wealth and estate planning.
Trust Services
Many clients we work with nominate a corporate trustee or fiduciary to act as a successor trustee to their estate. Weatherly works with National Advisors Trust Company (NATC), a private trust company, to provide independent trust and custodial services to current clients as well as future generations. Weatherly is also approved to act as investment advisor on trusts administered through Fidelity Investments and Charles Schwab. We also partner with a number of private fiduciaries on estates and can work with clients individually on what works best for their families.
Incorporating Your Business Into Your Estate
As a small business, we understand the importance of aligning our clients’ business planning with their family’s estate plan. We provide guidance on appropriate business structures, insurance considerations and legacy planning for the next generation. We work with clients to have the tools and resources available to host a family conversation, tying together the different pillars of growth that are important to them.
